Posts and notes do different jobs

Keep both: posts announce, notes accumulate.

Choosing between a blog and a garden is a false choice; they answer different questions.

A post is an event. It has a date because the date matters — this is what I thought in March, here is a thing I built, here is an argument aimed at a moment. Posts are how anything gets announced, and how anyone arrives.

A note is a position. It has a date only so you know how stale it might be, and it gets rewritten when the position changes.

So: write the post when there is an occasion, and let it link into the notes for the claims it leans on. The post ages; the notes it points at stay current. See [[Why gardens beat blogs]] and [[Evergreen notes]].
