I moved this site from a blog to a garden six months ago. Here is what actually changed.
I write less and revise more
Post count went down by roughly two thirds. Edit count went up by a lot more than that. The pile is smaller and better, which is the trade I wanted, but it does feel unproductive in a way a publishing schedule never did.
The links do the organising
I have not made a single tag decision in six months. Notes find each other because I link them while writing, and the backlink lists surface structure I did not plan — see [[Backlinks change what you write]].
The surprise
The most-linked note is the most boring one: [[Notes should be atomic]]. It is four paragraphs of mechanics with no insight in it at all, and nearly everything else leans on it. Apparently load-bearing ideas are rarely the interesting ones.
