Zero Mistakes

A publishing theme named zer0-mistakes promises what every deploy pipeline promises: flawlessness.

Table of Contents

The vault’s front door carries the label zer0-mistakes, and behind it: Midgley’s two catastrophes, Kodak’s drawer, Wilde’s lawsuit, a merchant of death’s premature obituary. The theme’s name reads at first as contradiction — a perfection brand on an error museum — but hold it to the light and it resolves into the vault’s actual thesis, stated backwards. Every entry here is an error that produced something: knowledge, law, literature, a prize. The catalog doesn’t refute the name; it redefines it. Zero mistakes, in the sense that nothing here was wasted.

There is also the developer’s reading, available to anyone who has shipped software: naming a thing zer0-mistakes is either a promise or a dare, and the zero-as-letter substitution — a deliberate typo in the word mistakes — suggests the author knew exactly which. A name that contains its own counterexample is Verbal Irony irony compiled to a slug.
